Dental implants are a popular restorative procedure that replaces your missing teeth. An implant is a titanium stud that we fuse to your jawbone to act as an anchor for your artificial teeth (dental crowns). The surgery offers a better alternative to dentures and bridgework that do not fit well because of the lack of natural tooth roots.
This restorative treatment is a permanent solution to your problem of missing teeth.
Who can Benefit from Implants?
You may opt for dental implant surgery if you have one or more teeth missing in your jaw. If you are missing a single tooth, we insert an implant into your jawbone and prepare a crown to match your natural teeth.
If there is more than one missing tooth, we will prepare multiple implants and then use bridgework to support them. Even if you do not have enough jawbone, you may opt for dental implants. Before the implant surgery, we will perform a bone grafting surgery so that your mouth has sufficient bone volume to hold the implant and artificial teeth in place.
What are the Types of Implants?
- Endosteal Implants
They are the most common choice of dental implants and include a two-part process where we insert the implants surgically into your jawbone.
- Subperiosteal Implants
These implants include a metal frame that we place under your gums and above your jawbone. The post protrudes from your gums, offering an attachment for your implants.

How is the Surgery Performed?
We will examine your dental health and take your X-rays to check the condition of your teeth. We will then create impressions of your gums and teeth. During the first appointment, we will make a small hole in your jawbone and place the implant. We will stitch the incision and allow the implant to fuse well into your jawbone.
After a few weeks, we will make a second incision to expose the implant and prepare your gum tissues to heal around the area. Impressions of your teeth will be taken to create a permanent crown. Meanwhile, we will insert a temporary crown and let your gums heal. After the second incision heals, we will remove the temporary crown and place the permanent one.
